This Easter bank holiday sees the resurrection of domestic football as the FA Cup quarter finals kick off. At 12:45, carabao cup winners Manchester City host Liverpool. Man City beat previous Carabao winners Newcastle United in the 5th round, whilst Liverpool saw off Wolves. Liverpool’s form is patchy coming into this game, having drawn against Tottenham and lost to Brighton before the international break. Plus the reds will have a European quarter final to keep an eye on, whilst City will have a week to prepare for their match against Chelsea. At 5:15 this evening, Chelsea take on Port Vale, who currently sit bottom of league 1. This will be the 4th lower league team that Chelsea have faced this year in the competition, whilst for Port Vale it’s their 2nd game against premier league opposition having seen off Sunderland a few weeks ago. Chelsea are going through a very rough patch, winning only 2 of their 7 matches in March, so a victory against lower league opposition will be crucial for them to regain some form and take some pressure off Liam Rosenoir. Finally at 8pm, Arsenal travel to St Mary’s to face off against Championship side Southampton. A win for Arsenal will book their next trip to Wembley, though having been lethargic against City in the Carabao Cup final 2 weeks ago they’ll need to hope that their next performance there is a marked improvement. Southampton though will want to make sure that Arsenal never make that trip, and having dispatched with Fulham in the 5th round last month, they certainly have what it takes to beat a premier league side. #BankHolidayFootball #FACup #ArsenalFC #manchestercityfc #LiverpoolFC #ChelseaFC #woodhallspa #dogfriendly #sportsbar

Tonight at 7:45, the first of England’s friendlies as they take on Uruguay. With only a few months until the World Cup in Canada, Mexico, and (gulp) the USA; this match will provide a decent litmus test for how ready they are for this summer’s tournament. England haven’t faced Uruguay since the 2014 World Cup group stage, where they lost 2-1 in a match that ended the World Cup dream very early on and provided an additional 4 years of hurt for David Baddiel and Frank Skinner to sing about. A lot has changed in the last 12 years. England have one of the strongest squads in the world and are among the favourites to lift the trophy alongside Donald Trump at the tournament in July. #englandfootball #ThreeLions #football #woodhallspa #dogfriendly #sportsbar
